Tryathlon

It was Friday the 13th and the sun had dawned amazingly, promising a great day. Today was no ordinary day, it was the day of the great Mapua school TRYathlon. The day started with everybody getting their bike checked by a teacher to make sure that the bike's brakes work and that the helmet fits well. The first kids up to the line were the year two boys and the last were the year eight girls. When it was  my turn (the year 7 boys) we all lined up and Mr Taylor called "on your marks- get set- GO". People cheered like crazy as we ran off with adrenaline pumping through our veins. We had to run three and a half tiring laps then transition to our bikes where we had legs like jelly but somehow managed the four laps that we had to do. Then we sprinted to the pool where we scrambled another tiring four laps. Our last leg was the final sprint to the finish line where people were cheering our names "Yes I finished," I thought to my self. Not so much after it was time for the awards where the three fast people went up with a smile on their dial and got their picture. Everything wrapped up at 12.30 and we headed back to classes.

But wait! A person is outside our door. He came in and told us that the winner of the house shield was... YELLOW HOUSE! Well done Yellow. Well done to everybody who participated. You lived up to the school motto you were All you can be.

MoTEC

A Drill press
Excitement buzzed throughout the bus as we left school at morning tea on Tuesday to go to the Motueka Technology Education Center  or MoTEC. This is where year 7 and 8 got to learn really cool things like woodwork, sewing, cooking and computer skills.

Our first day was all about safety, that when we are working with all the cool tools there we don't injure ourselves. We are all really looking forward to trying out all the tools and now that we know how to keep safe we can have lots of fun.
